The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, YIDFF, and Yamagin Kenmin Hall have collaborated to set up a large screen at the west exit of JR Yamagata Station for outdoor screenings to showcase the culture and charm of the Tohoku region’s art scene and community. Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival is held every other year and has a thirty five-year history of many people from across Japan and abroad gathering to watch and talk about films. We would like to take advantage of the opportunity of the film festival to create a place for exploring new forms of community through arts and culture. In conjunction with the screenings, there will be talks with guests who have been involved, through film, in the reconstruction and networking of Fukushima and other Tohoku regions since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
