2017-01-26 | Cinema with Us 2017 Preliminary Screening Event:
A Challenge of SHARING

Cinema makes us think, speak, and reach out . . .

The Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster on March 11, 2011 left a gaping scar in our psyches. To this day, six years since, there is a deep-seated anxiety within us. In the meantime, Shinozaki Makoto’s film Sharing was born. This feature fiction work speaks to our post-traumatic state through the cinematic imagination. We'll be showing it alongside Since Then, a prequel of sorts, and provide a forum to think about how cinema can allow us to steady our gaze on the events of March 2011 and its aftermath.
