Ms. Kang Deuk-kyung is one of many Korean women who were forced to work as "comfort women" by the Japanese military during World War II. Since 1992, she has been one of the leaders of the energetic movement to demand an apology and compensation from the Japanese government. However, she died of cancer in February of 1997, and this video was produced as a tribute to her life.
