The director records the process of the care of his own father in his final days, taking it as an opportunity to observe human death. Various realities faced by an aging society are revealed through the humorous words and behavior of the director’s mother—overwhelmed by caring for her husband at home—and their communication with nurses and caregivers.


- Murakami Hiroyasu

Born in Miyagi, Murakami won the Minister of Education Award for Nagare (2012), and the Shindo Kaneto Award for Tokyo Tideland (2019, YIDFF 2019). He also won the Agency for Cultural Affairs Film Award (Documentary Film Section) for Planet of the Crabs (2019, YIDFF 2021). This film was ranked second in the 2024 Kinema Junpo Top Ten Documentaries.
