- About Forum Cinema Network
- Initiated by members of the independent screening group Yamagata Ei-Ai-Ren, Forum Cinema Network is a citizen-led movement that led to the founding of Forum Yamagata, which opened as a cinema in 1984. Today, the network operates theaters across the Tohoku region— including locations in Fukushima, Sendai, and Morioka—screening over 400 films annually in partnership with local universities and community organizations. By opening new venues in areas without cinemas, the network continues to nurture a vibrant, locally-rooted film culture.
