The Film Group collective of Chicago shot this Civil Rights protest against housing discrimination. The police struggle to protect the marchers. The film was made as educational material for high schools.

Wiseman’s films are about the subtle viciousness of institutions, but here he directly depicts bodily violence as well. While critical, the film ultimately takes an ambivalent stance regarding police work.

Filmed in the wake of the Chicago Democratic Convention police riot, Leacock records a convention of several hundred police chiefs in Honolulu. The film is by turns amusing and terrifying.
